The IELTS exam or the International English Language Testing System has four main components, namely the Listening test, Reading test, Writing test, and Speaking test. The Listening test takes about 30 minutes, the Reading test takes about 60 minutes, the Writing test takes 60 minutes as well and the Speaking test takes about 11 - 14 minutes. • The Cue Card Round: In this round, the examiner will pass over a cue card to you with a random topic written on it. Who is the person?

A friend of mine, Utsoree, has been singing since she was 5 years old. We have been friends throughout our life and she was the one to introduce me to the emotional roller coaster called “Music”. She used to sing random excerpts of songs at various intervals in between classes and it became a habit of mine to listen to it and try to guess the name of the song. It was like a secret game of ours and we both enjoyed it a lot. Every time she heard a new song, she would sing it for me or make me listen to it so that we could play with it in our next session of the game. This became an endearing habit of ours which we have continued to date.

Wha are the types of music you enjoy?

My choice of song or music depends on my mood. If I am sad, I prefer listening to soothing music which would calm me down. In case I am anxious, I listen to pop music to divert my mind and when it rains, I love to listen to romantic music while inhaling the hypnotizing smell of soaked soil. I enjoy all kinds of music irrespective of genre, pace, or language.

A soothing conclusion : 

Although Utsoree lives in Switzerland now, our love for music has always kept us close. We make sure to send new content on music on social media and share each other’s playlists every now and then. I would be eternally thankful to her for bringing the essence of music and its inherent emotions into my life.

Appetiers section :

Music holds a very special place in almost every person’s life. Every individual has come across at least one song or music in their lives that has touched them deeply. Music holds a very special place in my heart as well. It has been a perfect companion of mine, speaking the truth or lending a crying shoulder to me whenever I needed it. In times of sadness, it has been a perfect consoler, when I was happy it danced with me and when I felt lonely, it gave me company. I could never really share my love for music with my family, since they were not very musically inclined. But after my sister’s wedding, I got a partner in crime. My brother in law is as crazy about music as I am. 

Main course Section : 

He not only loves music, he seems to worship it. He cannot go a day without music. He works while listening to an old “Ghazal”, listens to an English melody while eating, and listens to jazz while cooking. We have spoken for hours talking about different genres of music and listening to new songs together. Perhaps, our mutual admiration towards music has been the best ice-breaker. 

Dessert  Section : 

Music can be a true best friend and a perfect partner, you just need to lend her an ear. I am truly thankful to music, for creating this bond with my brother-in-law. One of my best memories at my sister’s place was sipping a cup of coffee while sitting on their balcony with my sister and her husband, listening to “November Rain” while watching the rain.

Do you think music is important?  

Answer: Certainly. Music is not only a product of passion or art, it holds therapeutic values and layers of emotions in it. It has the quality to uplift one’s mood. It is as dear as an ice cream to a small kid. It is like a universal language and its emotions have no boundaries. I am certain that some way or the other, music has been a part of the lives of every individual on earth. 

How does this person listen to music? 

From Answer 1: Utsoree listens to music on her wireless earphones and hums it very softly with her eyes closed as if she is mesmerized in another world. While on video call, we have often shared our playlists and I have watched her get immersed in a soothing melody or an old Rabindra Sangeet. I feel so happy to have got a friend like her and even happier that we found our mutual love in music. 

From Answer 2:   My brother in law loves to listen to music so he owns a lot of speakers with different configurations. He decides which speaker to switch on spending on the song he is about to play. For when he is listening to an old “Ghazal”, he would listen to it on his Amazon bot, whereas when he listens to jazz, he plays it on his Marshall speakers. He is a collector of speakers and loves to show whenever he acquires a new one.   

What type of music do you prefer? 

Answer: My preference for music depends entirely on my mood and the ambiance of my surroundings. For example, if I am on the terrace of my office sipping a hot cup of tea, I would listen to a soft melody, whereas if I am on a bus traveling back home from work, I would listen to some K-pop music to drown out the chatter of the road. But if I had to pick an absolute favorite genre, I would select old romantic songs. Those songs have a touch of nostalgia in them that soothes me every time I listen to them.
