The PTE Academic is a computer-based test that evaluates your listening, reading, speaking and writing skills along with some other skills such as vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, fluency, spelling and writing style all in two hours.
It prepares you to thrive in an environment where the English language is the main mode of communication. And the best part? It is accepted by colleges, universities and even governments all over the world, making it the first option of every student.
In terms of the score validity period, a PTE score is valid for two years from the date of the test taken. That is, the score can be applied to any application, admissions, or else immigration purposes within the two years time span.
Two years from the day you took the test and passed, your scorecard will be of no use if it falls off. After two years, you have to sit for it again.
This rule adds credibility to the test as it assesses the candidate’s command over the language as on the date of application. Plus, Language proficiency can change over time. The validity of the score is purposely limited to two years as a means of ensuring that all applicants’ skills are accurately reflected at the time of their submissions.
The PTE test report normally expires after two years, however, if you are applying for an Australian visa, your score shall remain valid for a period of three years.
Thus, it is okay if your score has been delisted from the official portal. Provided the test was taken in the past three years, the score still applies for the visa application.
This rule was put in place on 29th October 2019. The purpose of the regulation is for the facilitation of immigrants in Australia. If your report is taken down from the portal, it would be possible for the Immigration Department to ask for confirmation from Pearson’s help desk about your particulars.
In order to be eligible for an Australian PR visa, an applicant must, however, obtain a minimum of fifty marks in all the individual components.
