Until this time period, you can opt for an EoR (Enquiry on Result) too. EoR allows you to get your IELTS test results reassessed. You can apply for an EoR within 6 weeks of the next test date. We will explore this option in detail later in the article. You can also receive your results through email, SMS, and offline at your test center.

FINAL THOUGHTS

IELTS or International English Language Testing System is an English proficiency test recognized globally by academic institutions, companies and organizations. It gives a test score that is a reflection of a candidate’s English proficiency after a complete assessment of their efficiency to communicate in environments where English is the primary language of communication. Currently the exam is being managed by the British Council, IDP and Cambridge English jointly.

There are two formats available for the candidates: IELTS Academic and IELTS General. Students moving for higher education abroad must take the IELTS Academic Format. The test is divided into 4 modules: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The grading is done using bands, 9 being the highest band score. There are specific criteria for applying to universities or getting employed abroad. Depending upon the country, you may need to obtain a specific number of bands in the test. The IELTS Academic test is conducted 48 times in a year, 4 times a month, mostly on Saturdays and Thursdays. You are allowed to choose your exam date and location based on the availability. The test can be given offline at authorized test centers as well as online. Offline test is available in pen and paper format as well as computer delivered IELTS format. Candidates must check their scores on the IDP website. These test scores are valid for two years after the results are declared and can be used for applying to universities abroad. These results are accepted by education institutes all around the world. Different band scores indicate different levels of fluency in the English language.
