The Exam Structure of the IELTS:
Academic and General Training IELTS tests are assessed on a 9-band score, which is the same for both. There are four sections to the IELTS exam. These are their names:
- Listening
- Speaking
- Reading
- Writing

Which IELTS Score Types Are There?

Students are given a band score (sectional band score) ranging from 0 to 9 in half-point increments for each of the four portions of the test (9 being the highest score possible). Divided by four, the final score is 6.125, resulting in a band score of 6.0. This is the final score. Both the academic and general training versions of IELTS employ the same scoring methodology.
How IELTS Overall Band Score is Calculated
Overall band score for IELTS applicants is based on the sum of their band scores. It could be rounded to the nearest whole or the half band. Totalling 6.5 in Reading, 5 in Writing, 7 in Speaking, and 6.5 in Listening, a candidate would get a score of 25 on the test. The result is 6.25 when 25 is divided by four. In this case, the result is.25, thus it is rounded up to the next half band. As a result, the applicant has a band score of 6.5. There is just one band 9, which signifies an expert in the language.
