In order to succeed in the Dueling English Test, it is essential to comprehend the writing sample section.

Understand the Prompt:

It is crucial to fully grasp what the prompt is asking. 

Here is a planned method to be able to digest the prompt without any issues:

Putting It All Together: Put your ideas in a coherent order. You may want to think how your answer will be formatted:

Introduction: Start with a few words about the main subject or event that will be analyzed.

Main part: Explain the most important aspects in more detail. The exposition of the story includes such things as the setting, the characters, the plot, the events followed by the resolution.

Finish: State how important or valuable the picture event or the issue is in general.

Time Management: Decide how much time to spend on each of the parts of your answer. For example, determine how much time you will dedicate to the introduction, the main body, and the conclusion so that you are able to exhaust all the points within the available time.

Do Not Forget About Transitions: Remember to address how you will connect the different parts of your response. Proper transitions make it easy to flow and build coherence in writing.

Emphasize Key Points: Important aspects or ideas that need a robust and assertive statement out of them should be brought forth with the use of short sentences. In short, the short sentences are able to cut through the clutter of information and help in carrying across the key message.

Expand on Ideas: Concepts can be explored, examined and discussed using longer sentences. This helps to elaborate, enrich and relate different ideas. For example, “The project was completed, as it was planned and expected, even more so, after rigorous development and input from all branches of the organization.”

Maintain Reader Engagement: The reader’s interest is maintained through the varying lengths of sentences due to the introduction of varying degrees of speed and complexity. This alteration also ensures that your writing does not become boring or too familiar which is a good thing for the readers.

Clarify Complex Thoughts: When faced with a complex or subtle idea, for instance, these may be employed to alter the structure of the idea by making it very long for emphasis sake. Use these structures in order to elaborate or give context to the ideas presented, suggest connections between the ideas, or elaborate on characteristics of certain ideas chronologically.

Proofreading is a crucial step in the writing process that helps ensure your work is polished and free from errors.

 Here’s how to effectively proofread and improve the quality of your writing:

Establish a Schedule for Editing the Work Read: Separate time between writing and subsequent review for the allocated task.

Monitor the Capitalization of Letters: Make sure that the proper nouns (such as persons, LOC’s, organizations) and the starting letters of the sentences are written in uppercase letters where applicable. The absence and presence of certain capital letters can negatively affect how professional your text appears to be.

Proofread the use of punctuation Marks: Check whether punctuation marks are used correctly and are effective for the purpose of making the text clear and readable. Note the following:

• Commas: Check they are used adequately in writing list of any kind, a clause, or an introductory element.
• Full stops: Ensure that every sentence is finished by the appropriate full stop.
• Interrogative punctuation marks: Make sure that the sentences that are meant to pose questions do, end with the question marks.
