One of the most popular English certification tests, the International English Language Testing System, or IELTS exam, is accepted worldwide by prominent academic institutions and business associations. The IELTS Cue Card is a tool used in the speaking test to encourage the examinee to respond articulately and naturally. During the IELTS exam, applicants look into a variety of concepts, therefore it becomes more important for them to be able to effectively communicate their points of view.

What is the IELTS exam?

The four main sections of the IELTS test are the Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Listening sections. The only English proficiency exam recognized by all immigration agencies for verifying your English proficiency is the IELTS.

IELTS cue card: A succinct overview

The IELTS speaking section collectively occurs in three parts: the introduction where you answer questions about yourself and your family, then the cue card section where you will speak on the given topic, and finally the third part is the follow-up questions where the extended and in-depth conversation takes place. This speaking test part assesses your capacity to convey ideas and facts about routine topics and experiences effectively.  Introduction, cue card, follow up.

The time limit for the entire exam is roughly 11–14 minutes. The IELTS cue card section which is a part of the IELTS speaking test allows the candidate to speak on the allocated topic for 2-3 minutes and in the next part the examiner will ask certain follow-up questions based on the candidate’s response. The subject of your IELTS speaking topics may be your personal beliefs, current events, or any other seemingly random issues.
