Band 6
People may purchase the same goods anywhere in the world, which is causing countries to becomes more and more alike. I feel this is a negative development.
The ability to purchase identical goods anywhere in the world have led to an increasing degree of similarity between nations which is detrimental. This is the reason for an increasing loss in local businesses which are detremental. For example, Korean skincare are extremely popular globally because of the glass-skin effect that Korean people have. Thus, throughout the world in most countries, in the skincare market, Korean skincare products are dominating the businesses and this is adversely affecting the local skincare brands which are struggling to maintain their position in the market and new brands finding it difficult to even start their companies and break the monopoly.
Since consumers may purchase the same goods anywhere in the world, nations are starting to resemble one another more and more. I believe it is a negative development as the availability of products are creating a false sense of need amongst people. For instance, a branded phone which is expensive because it is not manufactured in India but instead is imported is being purchased here as a symbol of status or luxury even by middle-class people and this creates financial pressure on parents as their children demand it owing to peer pressure.

These local brands are equally challenged in maintain their market position and on the other hand, emergent brands are really struggling to challenge or invert this giants’ monopoly.
The globalization of products creates sort of a fake need or requirement among the populace. For instance, a branded smartphone which is cost exorbidantly due to being imported rather than being produced in the country is bought with a views of enhancing a certain social prestige. The trend is even seen in the middle class of Indian society which put a lot of pressure on parents to buy these gadgets as children get pressured into buying it due to the influence of friends. Therefore, strategic local brands as well as emerging brands consistently experience themselves battling to conserve their spaces within industry structures more so while evolving brands experience great difficulties as they seek to contend and overturn the monopoly influence of these global giants.
Furthermore, the globalization of consumer goods creates an imperative need in the population with the help of which people are manipulated.
